MOVEMENT BASED PERFORMANCE ARTIST

SAFETY BRICKS

What challenges in life should we face, and how many protective barriers do we need? In his solo performance "Safety Bricks," Lorenzo Ponteprimo explores the balance between perseverance and the need for retreat through dance, burdened by immense weight. The bricks he carries symbolize the emotional strain and difficulties of modern life—both on a personal and a societal level. This powerful performance reflects on how we deal with inner conflicts and prompts us to consider the price we are willing to pay in our pursuit of security.

Invitations & context

Rheinpfalz: “We will remember this extraordinary dance piece for a long time to come, in which everything comes together in aesthetic harmony: the sensationally athletic movement, the music, the audience set design and the message.”
Mannheimer Morgen: “In his fascinating, roughly 45-minute performance, the self-described 'movement-based performing artist' not only explores the limits of what his large, powerful body—rather atypical for a dancer—is capable of enduring, but also impressively investigates the psychological conflict between the need for security and the urge to simply shed unnecessary baggage. [...] Enthusiastic applause for a performance that will linger in the mind for a long time.”
